The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture selected 25 artists for the 2023 CityArtist program, investing $182,000 in artists working in Seattle. The CityArtist program supports Seattle-based individual artists/curators in the research, development, and presentation of their work. The 2023 cycle received 90 proposals from dancers/choreographers, musicians/composers, or theater-makers (including playwrights). To best serve the needs of the diverse artistic community eligible disciplines rotate every program cycle.

“Individual artists are the center of our arts and culture sector. Their work creates the fabric through which we weave our lives and brings our lens of the world into focus. This is why it’s so important that we support artists with our public funds. It allows us to work towards a just and equitable society.”
