Our own Jason Huff has composed a haiku in honor of the Seattle Mural:
Efflorescent scum
On Horiuchi’s mural
We’d like to fix that
VOTE to help us restore this iconic public artwork at Seattle Center’s Mural Amphitheatre. Commissioned for the 1962 World’s Fair and designed by artist Paul Horiuchi, the glass mosaic mural is pushing 50. Many of its pieces are missing, faded or cracked. It needs a facelift.
Your VOTE will help us revitalize this landmark artwork. The mural is one of 25 worthy Seattle-Puget Sound area projects in the running for a Partners in Preservation grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express. Online votes will determine which project walks away with full funding. So vote once a day, every day through May 12!
