Roots of Brazil

April 18, 2 PM, Armory Stage

Indian dancers in a pose. Text reads "Artists at the Center, cultural demonstration by Union Cultural Center."

Lift your spirits with the powerful rhythms and cultural arts of Brazil, where rhythm becomes language and movement carries memory. We will take you on a journey that blends together regional traditions and Afro-Brazilian forms such as Samba, Orixas dance, Samba de roda and the grounded dialogue of Capoeira Angola. Each dance emerges from histories of resistance and collective care—where the body holds what words cannot, and the drum calls people back into connection.

Matir Sur!

April 25, 2:45 PM, Armory Stage

An Indian dancer with a leg up. Text reads "Artists at the Center, dance performance by Sharbani Datta."

Matir Sur! celebrates the rich and vibrant melodies of Eastern India through a captivating blend of classical and folk dance, soulful vocal performances, and enchanting instrumental music. Experience the diverse flavors, rhythms, and traditions that bring the musical heritage of Eastern India to life on one unforgettable stage.

Tatkaar y Taconeo

April 26, 2 PM, Armory Stage

Two women reach up in a dance pose. Text reads "Artists at the Center, dance performance by Pooja Ganesh and Eve Salonen."

Tatkaar y Taconeo is an electrifying cross-cultural performance group blending India’s Kathak and Spain’s Flamenco, highlighting intricate rhythms, expressive storytelling, and percussive footwork of these dance forms. Their works are innovative explorations building bridges between traditions, communities, and cultures. Indian culture and music has had a major impact on how flamenco music and dance were formed. Tatkaar y Taconeo explores these cross-cultural parallels through acapella, live music and impromptu segments.

Stephcynie

May 29, 6 PM, Armory Stage

Three photos of Black adults with text underneath reading "BNA to SEA." Surrounding overlaid text reads "Artists at the Center, musical performance by Stephcynie."

When people hear Nashville, they think of music about truck stops and that southern twang. But Nashville isn’t called Music City because of one genre. It earned that name from being a hub for music creation. All types of music. Stephcynie, Jared Mitchell, and S-Wrap did their time in Music City — and now they’re in Seattle. BNA to SEA is their first introduction to a city with its own deep musical identity — grunge, jazz, and everything in between. This is a show about what happens when Nashville’s less obvious sound lands in the Pacific Northwest.

Rice on Repeat: An AAPI Circus

May 30, 6 PM, Armory Stage

Red photo of person hanging on a bar in flowy clothing. Text reads "Artists at the Center, ariel and acrobatic performance by Oroki Productions."

Six Asian American Circus artists perform an acrobatic family dinner in Rice on Repeat: An AAPI Circus. Acrobats will set the table, serve the rice, and share their life stories through dance and circus arts. It’s an ordinary routine full of extraordinary acts: handstands on the lazy susan, bowls of rice served from a flying pole, and a chosen family celebrating their shared experiences through movement.

F-Rock Inc.

May 31, 3 PM, Armory Stage

Three Black musicians playing the trumpet, singing, and playing the drums. Text reads "Artists at the Center, musical performance by F-Rock Inc."

Soul, Jazz & Hip Hop Across the Generations features Grammy-nominated Jazz artist Nathan Breedlove, nephew B-Boy Fidget, and brother Ted Sharpe with the award-winning Global Heat band.  The show takes you on a journey from the classic Jazz Hip Hop of A Tribe Called Quest, Digable Planets, Guru, and more; to the soulful sounds of Jill Scott and Erykah Badu; to present day fusion of Kendrick LaMar, Jon Batiste, and ensemble originals.
