This year, we celebrated Indigenous Peoples’ Day with over 500 community members at King Street Station! We celebrated the rich history, enduring legacy, and invaluable contributions of Native people, who have been an integral part of this region, and beyond, since time immemorial.
Monday, October 14 was filled with festivities and appreciation for the abundant richness of Native communities, cultures, and history, with many community-led events throughout Seattle. The energy was high on the King Street Station Plaza, with stories and songs performed by youth, guests dancing, and families connecting.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Native activists and allies who, in 2014, passionately advocated for the City of Seattle to officially recognize the second Monday in October as Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
