2023 – 2024 Budget Proposals & Arts Commission Response

The 2023-2024 proposed mid-biennial budget adjustments for the ARTS Office are available for public viewing. The budget proposal adjustments include operating costs, cost of living adjustments, and technical costs. Detailed descriptions of proposed budget changes can be read online or in the attached report below.

The 2023 Arts Commission, a group of citizen volunteers appointed by the Mayor and the Council to support and advocate for the ARTS office, issued a response to the budget proposals including gratitude for the Hope Corps program and funding for local artists. The Commission strongly advocated for increasing allotted funds supporting artists and artist programs from $257,100 to $400,000, highlighting the high costs of living and flight from the creative sector. The Commission also requested more transparency around the allotment of excess funds, noting the expertise in grant making and funding by both the Office of Arts & Culture and the Arts Commission. The report and responses can be read online or in the report below.
