MEMBERS SOUGHT FOR SEATTLE ARTS COMMISSION’S PUBLIC ART ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Office of Arts & Culture and the Seattle Arts Commission are seeking qualified candidates to serve a two-year term in a community at-large position on the Seattle Arts Commission’s Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC). The PAAC is comprised of Seattle Arts Commissioners (appointed by the Mayor and City Council), Design Commissioners, and community at-large Members. The term will begin October 27, 2015 and will continue for two years. Ideal candidates are professionals in the public art and design fields or community and arts leaders with an interest in how art can shape the public realm. The Office and Commission also seek candidates who share their strong commitment to equity and access.

The Public Art Advisory Committee advises City officials on the 1% Percent for Art Program. The 1% for Art program specifies that 1% of eligible city capital improvement project funds be set aside for the commission, purchase and installation of artworks in a variety of settings. The PAAC works with staff from the Office of Arts & Culture to set review goals for artworks commissioned under the 1% for art program.

The Public Art Advisory Committee meets once a month on the fourth Tuesdays in the morning for three hours.

To be considered for appointment, cover letter and resume by August 25, 2015 to Elisheba Johnson at elisheba.johnson@seattle.gov
