Families and Education Levy Arts Workshop, Nov. 15

In partnership with the Seattle Office for Education, we’re hosting a brown bag workshop offering an overview of the 2011 Families and Education Levy and outlining how arts organizations can get involved. The event will be 12 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011 at Seattle Center, Center House, Conference Room H. Seattle voters are being asked to renew the seven-year levy. The $232 million measure is on the Nov. 8 ballot.

The city’s Office for Education administers levy dollars. It awards contracts based on competitive bids and measures results. The intent is to offer many opportunities for collaboration and partnership in the interest of dramatically improving academic results for students in Seattle public schools. Learn about the levy, its outcome-based framework and specific investment areas.

Outcomes expert Hal Williams will present his talk “Outcome Framework for the Arts in the Context of Education.” Sid Sidorowicz from the Office for Education will talk about “Measuring Results and Results Contracting.” Holly Miller from the Office for Education will present her talk “2011 Families and Education Levy and Implementation Schedule Overview.”

The brown bag workshop is free, however advance registration is requested. RSVP by noon, Monday, Nov. 14 to arts.culture@seattle.gov or (206) 684-7171.
