You don’t want to miss banjo virtuoso Danny Barnes performing a free lunchtime concert at City Hall, noon to 1:30 p.m. this Thursday!

Barnes is a genre-bending banjo man, guitarist and singer who rocks with electronic loops. Rolling Stone declares, “Barnes is a clever lyricist with a punk-rock past who understands the raw simplicity of a good country tune.”

His 2010 album Pizza Box exemplifies his diverse, open-ended musical philosophy. Issued by Dave Matthews’ ATO label, Matthews calls the album “my favorite rock record, my favorite country record.”

The performance, outdoors on the City Hall plaza, is part of Seattle Presents, the free concert series at City Hall presented by the Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs.

Performances take place every Thursday in July and August and are presented in partnership with Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union, Metropolitan Improvement District, Seattle Parks and Recreation and Triamp Group.

If it rains, the concert will move inside the City Hall lobby and conclude at 1 p.m.
