De Cajón Project performs free concert at City Hall this Thursday

de-inga-mandingaDe Cajón Project is a community arts organization based in Seattle dedicated to educating populations about the cultural contributions of Peruvians of African descent. They come to City Hall’s outdoor plaza, 600 Fourth Ave., for a free, all-ages performance, 12 to 1:30 p.m., Aug. 8 as part of the Seattle Presents free summer concert series. Seattle Presents will feature free concerts on Thursdays through August at City Hall.

De Cajón Project’s music and movement is a celebration rooted in the African and Andean traditions of Peru and driven by the incredible rhythms of the cajón (Peruvian box drum). The musicians, dancers and performers of this organization are cultural ambassadors, educators, and above all, amazing artists.

Seattle Presents concerts are presented by the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, Metropolitan Improvement District and Triamp Group.
