Office of Film + Music happy hour to feature K-12 arts plan

Learn how Seattle Public Schools (SPS) will pursue music as one of two disciplines in developing a comprehensive K-12 arts plan at the Office of Film + Music’s happy hour, 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 29 at Spitfire Grill, 2219 Fourth Ave. SPS Visual and Performing Arts Manager Carri Campbell and Planning Project Manager Audrey Querns will talk about how the school district will implement their new approach to ensure that all of Seattle’s students can participate fully in Seattle’s music-rich culture.  Presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. No RSVP is required.

The development of the district-wide K-12 arts plan is a goal of the Seattle K-12 Arts Learning Collaborative, with a community planning process that runs through January 2013. The collaborative will share a mid-point report on how the K-12 arts plan is progressing in September. Go here for more information.

The arts education planning work is made possible by a grant that SPS received from The Wallace Foundation. The creation of the arts plan builds on the multi-year Arts Education Partnership between the Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs and Seattle Public Schools.

The Office of Film + Music hosts monthly happy hours for leaders in film, music and interactive industries to share, learn and make meaningful business connections.
