“Murky depths” and “bold strokes” at new Juan Alonso show

Visual artist and 2010 Mayor’s Arts Award winner Juan Alonso’s new show received a glowing review this week in the Seattle Times.

Michael Upchurch writes of Alonso’s “Underground No. 1,” “Subterranean #1″ and “Subterranean #2,” “The more you look at them, the more there is to see.”

Similarly engaged by Alonso’s “Filigreed Levitation,” which resembles a fleur-de-lis pattern, Upchurch writes that the piece exudes ”elegance, flamboyance and a floating sense of mystery.”

Alonso’s latest show has also been reviewed on KUOW and ArtDish, an online forum on Northwest visual art.

The show will be on view until September 5th at the Francine Seders Gallery (6701 Greenwood Ave. N.). The gallery is open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sundays. Call 206-782-0355 or visit the gallery online for more information.
